Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Union Pentecostal Church ("UPC," "we," "us," or "our") provides the UPC website, Bible web app, mobile app, content library, livestream, account features, event features, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
This Policy applies to the Services operated by UPC, including unionpentecostalchurch.com, related UPC subdomains, and the UPC mobile app. It does not apply to websites, apps, payment processors, app stores, or other services operated by third parties, even when linked from our Services.
Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to provide, such as:
- Account information, including your name, email address, password credentials, profile image, phone number, sign-in methods, and account settings.
- Content you save or create, including Bible bookmarks, Bible highlights, Bible notes, sermon bookmarks, article bookmarks, saved library items, and event RSVP choices.
- Communication choices, including whether you enable email or push notifications for particular UPC content categories.
- Messages and requests, including contact form submissions, support requests, mailing-list signup information, password reset requests, account deletion requests, and other communications with us.
- CMS and administrative information, if you are authorized to use UPC editorial or administrative tools, including profile information, assigned roles, actions taken, audit records, and content changes.
- Uploaded or managed content, including images, audio, video, documents, captions, transcripts, titles, descriptions, filenames, metadata, and other information submitted through UPC-controlled administrative tools.
Some information you provide or generate through the Services may reveal religious interests, religious activity, or participation in church-related services, events, media, or Bible study. Please use care when adding free-form notes or other personal information.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we and our service providers may collect technical and usage information, such as:
- IP address, device information, browser type, operating system, app version, referring pages, pages or screens viewed, access dates and times, request paths, diagnostics, and server logs.
- Authentication and security data, including session tokens, cookies, user agent, IP address, login state, rate-limit information, and security events.
- Search and product interaction data, including search queries, Ask queries, Bible explanation requests, content views, bookmarks, RSVP actions, downloads, and other feature usage.
- Mobile app data needed for app functionality, including locally stored settings, offline content records, local Bible data, local search history, event reminder settings, notification scheduling data, downloaded sermons or articles, and secure session storage.
- Push-notification registration and delivery data, including the app and mobile platform, Firebase Installation ID, Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, registration and last-seen timestamps, whether a registration is active or revoked, campaign and delivery status, provider message identifiers, delivery-attempt timestamps, and limited provider error information. UPC does not return FCM registration tokens through its public notification APIs.
Information from third parties
We may receive information from third-party services you use with the Services, such as Google or Apple sign-in providers, app stores, email providers, livestream providers, media/storage providers, analytics or infrastructure services, and donation or payment providers. The information we receive depends on your settings and the third party's policies.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, protect accounts, and support password resets, social sign-in, and account deletion.
- Sync user-owned content across devices, including Bible notes, highlights, bookmarks, saved sermons, saved articles, event RSVPs, and account settings.
- Provide Bible reading, search, Ask, recommendation, related-content, and AI explanation features.
- Provide livestreams, media playback, offline downloads, event reminders, notifications, and mobile app features.
- Send service emails, account emails, welcome emails, password reset emails, account deletion emails, mailing-list messages, and other requested communications.
- Manage UPC content, files, media, livestreams, transcripts, embeddings, search indexes, administrative access, and CMS audit records.
- Respond to questions, support requests, bug reports, and security issues.
- Monitor performance, prevent abuse, enforce limits, protect the Services, investigate unauthorized activity, and comply with legal obligations.
AI Features
Some Services use artificial intelligence and machine-learning features, including Ask/search, Bible explanations, summaries, image generation, transcription-related workflows, semantic search, embeddings, and related-content features. To provide these features, we may send relevant prompts, queries, selected Bible passages, surrounding context, transcripts, content text, image inputs, metadata, or other requested information to AI service providers.
Do not submit confidential, highly sensitive, or third-party personal information into AI prompts, Bible notes, Ask queries, or other free-form fields unless you understand that it may be processed by our systems and service providers. AI-generated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your situation. It should not be treated as professional advice, pastoral counseling, legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or an authoritative statement of UPC doctrine.
Cookies, Sessions, and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, session tokens, local storage, secure storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, support cross-subdomain sign-in, operate the Services, and prevent abuse. You may be able to control some browser cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may prevent account or site features from working correctly.
The mobile app stores some information on your device, such as authentication tokens, device preferences, Bible reader settings, local Bible data, search history, saved offline content, and event reminder settings. Removing the app or clearing app data may remove local information from your device.
How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following ways:
- With service providers that help us operate the Services, such as hosting providers, database providers, authentication services, email and notification providers such as Resend and Firebase Cloud Messaging, app stores, cloud storage providers, livestream providers, AI providers, transcription providers, analytics or infrastructure providers, and security providers.
- With third-party sign-in providers, such as Google or Apple, when you choose to use those sign-in methods.
- With donation and payment providers when you choose to give online. UPC's website may link to an external giving provider. Payment information submitted to that provider is handled by that provider under its own terms and privacy policy.
- With authorized UPC staff, volunteers, contractors, or administrators who need access to operate, support, secure, or administer the Services.
- With law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when we believe disclosure is required or permitted by law, necessary to protect rights and safety, or needed to investigate abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
- In connection with a reorganization, transfer, or change in responsibility for operating the Services, subject to appropriate protections.
Third-party services may process information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies before using third-party services.
Account Deletion and Data Retention
You may request deletion of your UPC account through the account settings available in the web and mobile Services, where supported, or by contacting us.
When your account is deleted, UPC deletes account-owned records such as your account profile, sessions, sign-in methods, account settings, sermon bookmarks, article bookmarks, event RSVPs, Bible bookmark groups, Bible bookmark verses, Bible highlights, notification preferences, push-notification installations and registration tokens, and notification delivery records addressed to your account, subject to technical limitations and lawful retention needs. The mobile app also clears local session data after successful deletion, removes local Bible user data for the deleted user, and attempts to delete its local Firebase messaging token. Content-backed notification campaign records may remain as operational records, but references to the deleted account as campaign creator, updater, or canceler are cleared.
Some information may be retained after account deletion, including:
- Published, editorial, CMS-managed, or church-owned content.
- CMS audit records and historical actor snapshots, such as administrative action logs, display names, or email snapshots, when retained for security, integrity, accountability, or operational records.
- Expired or pending verification records, logs, backups, security records, and records we need for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, tax, accounting, or compliance purposes.
- Offline downloads or device-local preferences that remain on your device until you remove them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Backup copies may persist for a limited period before being overwritten or deleted through normal backup cycles.
Your Choices
Depending on your location and the type of information involved, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent. You may also:
- Update account information through account settings, where available.
- Remove certain saved content, bookmarks, notes, highlights, RSVPs, downloads, or preferences through the Services.
- Enable or disable optional email and push categories through notification preferences. Optional content notifications default to off unless you enable them.
- Unsubscribe from marketing or mailing-list emails using the instructions in those emails, where available.
- Disable mobile notifications through your device settings.
- Delete offline downloads through the mobile app's offline storage controls.
- Request account deletion through account settings or by contacting us.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
Turning off an optional push category stops UPC from selecting that account for that category, but it does not by itself delete the app installation registration or Firebase token. Disabling notifications in device settings controls presentation on that device and likewise may not remove the server registration. Signing out revokes the current installation when possible, stale registrations are revoked after extended inactivity and later deleted, and account deletion removes the account's installation rows.
Children and Minors
The Services are intended for a general church audience and are not intended to collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parent or guardian involvement. If you are under 13, do not create an account or submit personal information through the Services without permission from your parent or guardian.
If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate permission, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information to UPC may contact us.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no website, app, network, storage system, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
International Users
UPC is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" signals. There is no uniform standard for responding to these signals, and the Services do not currently respond to them. We will honor legally required opt-out signals where applicable and technically supported.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the Services or another reasonable method. Continued use of the Services after an updated Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated Policy.
